Priority groups
All humidifier tanks in a multi-tank group are assigned to a priority
group. There are four priority groups: 0, 1, 2, and 3.
The purpose of priority groups is to identify tanks as trim tanks or
redundant tanks, and/or to define fuel or other preferences. The
default configuration assigns all tanks to priority group 1 where all
tanks operate with equal priority.
Trim tanks
A tank functioning as a trim tank is assigned to priority group 0
and always operates before tanks in priority groups 1, 2, or 3.
The function of a trim tank is to be the first tank in a multi-tank
group to respond to system demand changes. Multi-tank groups
requiring a rapid response to changes in system demand typically
have an electric element humidifier with SSR control as the trim
tank .

The system capacity of a multi-tank group is the combined capacity
of tanks in groups 0, 1, and 2. A tank functioning as a redundant
tank is assigned to priority group 3 and operates only if one or more
of the tanks in groups 0, 1, or 2 is not available and the multi-tank
group cannot meet the demand for steam production. Placing a
tank in priority group 3 ensures that it only runs as a redundant
tank.
Because a redundant tank operates infrequently, assigning master
controller status to the redundant tank in a multi-tank group
reduces system down time while the master controller tank receives
servicing.
